Brabus tunes new Mercedes twin-turbo V8s

Brabus has unveiled a new tuning program for the twin-turbo V8 engines used in the Mercedes CL/S550 and CL/S63 AMG.

First up, the CL500 and S500 (CL550 and S550 in US) can be outfitted with the 490 PowerXtra CGI kit that enables the V8 engine to produce 490 PS (360 kW / 482 bhp) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque, up from standard 435 PS (320 kW / 429 bhp). Furthermore, the 520 PowerXtra CGI package allows the engine to crank out 520 PS (382 kW / 512 bhp) and 820 Nm (604 lb-ft) of torque, an increase of 85 PS (63 kW / 84 bhp) for both 500 models.

Moving on to the CL63 and S63 AMG, Brabus offers a 584 PowerXtra CGI setup which develops an additional 40 PS (29 kW / 39 bhp). Furthermore, there's a 620 PowerXtra CGI version which affords 620 PS (455 kW / 610 bhp) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. In the latter state of tune, both the CL- and S-Class can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph).
